Dentures are a great option for replacing one or more missing teeth. A partial denture can fill in a gap in your smile, while a full set of dentures will replace an entire row of missing teeth. Dentures are an inexpensive tooth restoration option, and they can be ready in a relatively short amount of time.

You may think that because your dentures are not natural teeth, your days of brushing and cleaning them are over. Nothing could be further from the truth. Your dentures can still collect food debris over the course of the day, and if they are not kept clean, bacteria can develop on their surfaces.

Clean your dentures with hand or dish soap and warm water. Hot water can cause your dentures to warp. You can use a special toothpaste that is formulated to clean dentures, but avoid regular toothpaste since it may contain abrasives that might scratch your dentures. A soft-bristled toothbrush or a denture brush can be used to gently scrub your dentures. Clean your dentures over a towel or sink full of water, which will minimize the chances of breaking your dentures if you drop them. While you are brushing, clean your gums and your tongue. Brushing your gums will stimulate the blood flow, and keep them clean of plaque and bacteria. Brushing your tongue will remove the bacteria that causes bad breath. When you are done cleaning your dentures, place them in a soaking solution overnight.
